Tell Me about a Tiger's Life Cycle?
A baby tiger is called a cub. When a tiger births it usually has two or three cubs. The cubs are blind, and helpless a few days after birth, so they depend on the mother fully. But, after about a week the cubs can see completely. After two months cubs are able to follow their mother, who takes care of them alone, on outings. Soon after, the cubs can hunt small animals and mice. They learn the techniques by watching their mother. As soon as the cubs are ready to leave their mothers, they will. Male cubs leave about a year after birth, while the female cub leaves about eight months after birth. The female cub will reach maturity at about age three and she is able to birth now. However, the male cub reaches maturity at about age four. When the cubs are mature, they will then look for a mate. The female approaches the male to see if he will show willingness. If he does, the female rubs against the male and resumes a squatting position. They mate and the male leaves the female, never seeing her again. The gestation period is about ninety to a hundred days. The tiger then gives birth. Both male and female tigers will live to between the ages of fifteen to twenty five.
Tigers mostly live in forested areas, such as mangroves, lush wet forests, savannas, and tropical forests. They can also be found in swampy areas and reed lands.
